BENEFITS OF CELERY

Celery is almost a specific for rheumatism, gout, and nervous indigestion.

The most useful plants for this purpose are small, not too rapidly grown nor very highly manured.
It may be eaten raw, or steamed, or in soup. Strong celery broth flavoured with parsley is excellent.

Athletes: Celery juice is a very refreshing drink that is perfect after working out as it is able to replace lost electrolytes from sweating through its high mineral content
.
Cancer: Studies conducted on celery have shown that it contains eight kinds of anti-cancer elements in the very least. Among them are acetylenics, phenolic acids, and coumarins. Acetylenics are known to stop tumor cell growth while phenolic acids block prostaglandinds which are responsible for tumor growth. Coumarins prevent free radicals from causing cell damage and cell death in the body.

Cholesterol: Celery juice is very effective in lowering total cholesterol and LDL (low density lipoprotein) levels in the body.
Colon and stomach cancer: An anti-cancer substance in celery juice called coumarin prevents and lowers the risk of developing cancer of the colon and the stomach.

Constipation: Celery is a naturally acting laxative that helps relieve constipation. It also helps soothe nerves that have been driven too hard by pharmaceutically-prepared laxatives.
