Celery is almost a specific for rheumatism, gout, and
nervous indigestion.
The most useful plants for this purpose are small, not too
rapidly grown nor very highly manured.
It may be eaten raw, or steamed, or in soup. Strong celery
broth flavoured with parsley is excellent.
Lowering of one’s blood pressure has always been associated
with intake of celery. What most people don’t know is that when
used in combination with other kinds of juices, celery can also
be of benefit to other health conditions as well.
In fact, recent studies show that celery might also have
anti-cancer properties. Among the benefits of celery juice to
one’s health are the following:

juice are very effective in neutralizing acidity, making it
useful in keeping the body’s blood pH balanced.
Athletes: Celery juice is a very refreshing
drink that is perfect after working out as it is able to
replace lost electrolytes from sweating through its high
mineral content
.
Cancer: Studies conducted on celery have shown
that it contains eight kinds of anti-cancer elements in the
very least. Among them are acetylenics, phenolic acids, and
coumarins. Acetylenics are known to stop tumor cell growth
while phenolic acids block prostaglandinds which are
responsible for tumor growth. Coumarins prevent free radicals
from causing cell damage and cell death in the body.
Cholesterol: Celery juice is very effective in
lowering total cholesterol and LDL (low density lipoprotein)
levels in the body.
Colon and stomach cancer: An anti-cancer substance in celery
juice called coumarin prevents and lowers the risk of
developing cancer of the colon and the stomach.
Constipation: Celery is a naturally acting
laxative that helps relieve constipation. It also helps soothe
nerves that have been driven too hard by
pharmaceutically-prepared laxatives.
Cooling: When you find the weather hot and
dry, a glass of celery juice twice or thrice a day can
definitely cool you down. Drink a glass in between meals and
you can see and feel the difference in your body
temperature.
Diuretic: Celery juice contains potassium and
sodium, which helps with fluid balance in the body as well as
stimulating production of urine. It rids the body of excess
fluid to maintain equilibrium.
Inflammation: Celery contains polyacetylene
which is a very efficient anti-inflammatory. It helps with
conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis,
osteoarthritis, bronchitis, and even asthma.
Kidney function: Aiding with detoxification,
celery is very useful in helping the kidney function normally.
It also ensures a healthy kidney by preventing kidney stone
formation.
Lower blood pressure: A significant reduction
in blood pressure can be seen when celery juice is taken daily
for about a week. Celery contains pthalides, which help the
muscle around the arteries relax. This in turn causes blood
vessel dilation to allow normal flow of blood. The best way to
drink celery juice for blood pressure is to drink it for a week
then stop for three weeks before starting over.

diuretic effect of drinking celery juice, it also aids in
