BENEFITS OF COCOANUT

Cocoanut is an old and very efficacious remedy for intestinal worms of all kinds.

A tablespoonful of freshly-ground cocoanut should be taken at breakfast until the cure is complete. The dessicated cocoanut is useless for curative purposes.

In recent health reports, it has been said that coconut has the ability to decrease the viral load of HIV. It all started in September in the year 1996 with Chris D. from Cloverdale, Indiana. He decided to stop all treatments and wanted to go to South America jungles to take his last vacation. At that time, his HIV viral load exceeded 600,000 with his CD4 count at 10 and his CD8 was around 300. Around October of the same year, he started his habit of eating a dish of cooked coconut prepared by Indians in the area every day. Upon going home on December 27, 1996, his viral load was reduced to levels non-detectable and he had also gained about 32 lbs. He was feeling good so he encouraged one of his friends to eat half of a cooked coconut daily. Within four weeks, the viral load of his friend decreased greatly from 900,000 to 350,000. In a month, after adding Crixivan together with the daily serving of cooked coconuts, the viral load level also became undetectable. Coconuts have been a part of the lives of the Indians in Surinam as they eat cooked coconut every morning to keep them from getting sick.

Coconut oil has lauric acid, which is then converted by the body into monolaurin. Monolaurin acts by making the lipids enveloping the virus soluble, causing it to break down and collapse. Mary Enig, M.S. (Nutritional Sciences), Ph.D., has conducted deep studies regarding trans-fatty acids. She wrote that among the pathogens that are inactivated by monolaurin are HIV, measles, HSV or herpes simplex virus, influenza virus, CMV or cytomegalovirus, pneumonovirus, as well as some types of bacteria. In a book by Lark Lands, Ph.D “Positively Well”, it is mentioned that calves in India are commonly fed coconut oil to treat infections caused by a protozoa cryptosporidium. Mark Konlee’s report no. 14 in Positive Health News also mentions research on coconut products and lauric acid as being able to put an end to neuropathy in several situations.

Dr. Mary Enig recommends about 24 grams of lauric acid in a day for an average adult for a rich lauric adic diet. She based this calculation on the content of lauric acid found in the milk of a human mother. This amount of 24 grams can be met through 3 ½ tablespoons of coconut oil or by drinking 10 ounces of pure coconut milk.  Seven ounces of raw coconut will also contain the daily requirement of 24 grams lauric acid.

In Mark Konlee’s report, he gives different ideas on how you can use coconut in its raw form, as milk, and even in its oil form. People who are allergic to coconuts need not worry as coconut oil may be taken as the allergy is caused by the proteins found in the coconut itself and not in the oil.
